Israeli jets bomb Beirut Airport

"Jerusalem: Israel bombed and shelled southern Lebanon and sent ground troops over the border for the first time in six years Wednesday after Hezbollah guerrillas captured two Israeli soldiers."

The difference between India and Israel is so stark. A terrorist organization captures 2 soldiers of Israel's army to trade for prisoner swap and Israel has gone all out on war against the sponsoring country.

"Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called the Hezbollah raid an '“act of war' by Lebanon and threatened ''very, very, very painful'' retaliation."

On the other hand, in India, a terrorist organizatio sponsored by world famous terrorist exporter country comes in and blows apart hundreds of innocent civilians. The Indian govt now underquotes the casualty to save some compensation money and Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh issues a statement asking Indian citizens to remain clam. It seems like govt is asking people to forget the trauma so that even govt can forget the same. What did the govt did to the culprits of the 1993 Mumbai blasts till now?

Mr Singh, the country expects results now. The patience is on the way of giving out. We do not expect you to wage war with pakistan, but we do expect Indian govt to shoulder the responsibility of protecting people and punishing the rogue agents, hiding anywhere in the world.

Palestinians don't have army, leave alone nuclear bomb. I am not advocating passivity, but our reaction has be to more strategic and planned, rather than blatant visible aggression.

Hey Maggu
If you read my last para it says

"Mr Singh, the country expects results now. The patience is on the way of giving out. We do not expect you to wage war with pakistan, but we do expect Indian govt to shoulder the responsibility of protecting people and punishing the rogue agents, hiding anywhere in the world."

So I clearly acknowledges your point that we blatantly cannot go to war with pakistan, but does aggression means only war? There are other methods of aggression through which we can give concluding signals to pakistan.

Also pakistan having nuclear weapons should not make us hostage to its evil designs. pakistan doesnt care about India's might before sending such terrorists across the border!

Abhishek, I totally understand where you are coming from. But I doubt if we signal anything to any nation or terrorist group, it will only make things worse for us. Remember these guys have nothing else (better) to do while our PM has a developing nation to lead. Plus our defence spending also is quite large, and we all know the limitations of our criminal justice system.
Any country (in this case Israel or US) have a strong domestic criminal justice system that shields them from such things from happening. So the solution does not lie outside, but within. And for that no amount of signalling is going to work, just a better law enforcement strategy.

Agreed that no such operation can be executed without local 'franchisee'. But it is not the weakness of the criminal justice system which inspires the local agents, but I believe its the inherent criminal tendency within any society. No modern society is crime free.

Such incidence happens because local criminals get funded and inspired by foreign agents to act more vigorously. Unless funding is not coming from outside the country these criminals are happy with small drug deals or similar illegal stuff which earns them quick money. What fun will they have by exploding bombs which costs thousands but earns nothing!

Secondly, signalling is important as terrorism is more of a mind game and an aggressive posturing will act as a deterrent for local criminals. Also it helps in developing international pressure over sponsoring country to give up some of its plans, though temporarily!
